Great book! I do not regret this purchase for a second. Worth the money to own instead of borrowing from your local public library. You might come back to this book every few years, to refresh your skills in loving your partner or significant other, keep her "love tank" full, and make her feel loved and special. From this book I learnt my principal love language, and other love languages that also work for me. I also gained insight into the principal love languages of my partner. This knowledge has improved our relationship and my life. I am better able to communicate with her and recover from spats. This is one of my favourite books. I recommend it without reservation.

This seemed like it was going to be a gimmicky book. It actually is written in an unintentionally gimmicky style, but obviously very well intentioned. It surprises me to say, but it holds some amazing insights. Once the key points have had time to settle into my understanding, it has been amazing how I truly could classify my loved ones into one or two of these languages. The real gift for me was to understand how one language type can talk to another. I still personally struggle (in an academic fascination) with how my love language seems to fall politely flat when expressed to other languages. But at least I know a little bit more why and what can be done.

I bought this book for a friend and she is getting a lot of great info from it. Yes, I do recommend it. I gave it 4 stars bc I was bummed to see that I ordered the same book with same book cover as my copy but when I received this book it was a different cover. After looking through it the book was the same as mine but sadly this was no quiz in the back :(

This book is interesting. Explains some things. I read this book straight through I was so intrigued. I have used it to "screen" people. Let's you know up front what you are dealing with. The caveat here is that if you really want this book to be effective, you have to get your significant other on board with the system. That way slight allowances can be made for the way each of you do things. The way I see it, each of you are going to do what you do, so knowing why is a big help in associating with each other.

This book is excellent. I learned that there are five love languages and each person wants to be loved in their primary love language. When couples start dating they tend to express love to each other in all five love languages. Over time, couples can become so busy with the responsibilities of life that they drift apart. This leads to emotional withdrawal. Partners no longer feel secure that they are loved. When this occurs they can become distant and even hostile toward one another. There is hope! The situation can be turned around by learning your partner's primary love language and choosing to express love to them in their primary love language. It is hoped that they will respond by choosing to express love to you in your primary love language. It is common for couples to have different love languages. One partner wants physical touch and the other wants quality time or acts of service. The author gives hope by sharing many examples of couples whose marriage appeared hopeless but was turned around by using these principles.

very interesting and helpful. this particular version is for couples, but he has also written versions for parents-children. and i think some others too. By the way, you don't have to be a couple in crisis to read this. Eye opening also for couples with a "strong" relationship
